Winter Mountain Biking

It’s hard to let go of the summer in Vermont.  Summer here is short and very sweet.  We spend the days experiencing the landscape with two wheels under a canopy of green knowing that it won’t last long.  Tan lines form where jersey sleeves and spandex stop; a sun kissed suit paints itself on your body and stays with you all year.   Then October comes and sunlight streams through leafless trees.  The missing leaves blanket the slippery trails with a multicolor quilt that conceals the obstacles beneath.  Eventually singletrack gives way to snow drifts and rides become rare gifts in between bad weather and shortened days.

Singletrack Mindfulness Welcomes “Purple Thunder”

Who is Purple Thunder you ask?  That is the name given to Singletrack Mindfulness’ new dirt jumping bike – an Eastern Thunderbird that is entirely purple.  Its steel frame, its beefy wheels, and its wide handlebars – all purple.  When I first saw this bike in all of its purple glory, I thought, “Perhaps this is ridiculous.” I am 31 years old buying a dirt jumping bike, but add to the fact that it is a radiant purple and it becomes even more absurd.
