Our Feel the Flow Retreat takes advantage of one of New England’s best mountain biking destinations – the Kingdom Trails! Come see what everyone talking is about and ride the 100+ miles of singletrack winding across the rolling hills of East Burke, Vermont. There was a good reason Bike Magazine (2008) named these trails the Best Trail System in the U.S.: The Flow! Riders of all levels find well-built trails that offer everything from easy riding with beautiful vistas to all day cross-country epics and even gravity-fueled descents down Burke Mountain.
Accommodations: East Burke thrives during bike season with many amenities for bikers lining the small downtown. There are good eats, a local pub, the East Burke Bike Shop, a swimming hole, a creemee stand (a.k.a. soft serve ice cream) and the Kingdom Trails Association office staffed with friendly folks. Our retreat guests stay in a mountain chalet on Burke Mountain, just minutes from the Burke Mountain Bike Park lift and a short ride to plentiful cross-country trails. The chalet is modern in design and offers a quiet and comfortable retreat space, including a downstairs group area for yoga.
Retreat Description: This retreat invites you to feel the flow, both on sweet mountain bike rides and during the invigorating and relaxing yoga practice in the morning before breakfast. After breakfast, riders may opt for a clinic and/or hit the trails for a sizable singletrack ride or lift-served biking. We will have delicious lunch trailside or at the chalet, depending on the day’s schedule. In the afternoon, we will regroup for a restorative yoga session. There will be plenty of time for relaxation during the afternoon and evening hours. Local freshly prepared dinner is served at 7:30.
YOGA (All levels): A daily morning yoga practice occurs on site at the chalet, prior to breakfast. Each day, you can take advantage of the yoga in a small class environment inviting you to center and ground yourself before the outdoor adventure ahead. In the afternoon, we encourage you to attend our restorative yoga class, which literally restores your tired body and reduces soreness the next day. We have discovered how important this practice is to energize your entire retreat.
MOUNTAIN BIKING (Bike Levels 2-6): Bikers of all levels can enjoy a weekend of riding to remember. The Kingdom Trails includethe singletrack on Darling Hill and downhill trails of Burke Mountain. On Darling Hill riders experience the undulating terrain of some of the sweetest singletrack in the Northeast. Trails like Sidewinder, named the “Best Flow Trail” in the U.S. by Bike Magazine in 2008, Troll Stroll, Tap-N-Die, and Webs guarantee a smile at the end with swooping turns that make the most of the natural landscape. Take in the beautiful vistas above Heaven’s Bench before descending gracefully on Bill MacGill or Ridge. Interested in a more gravity-oriented kind of riding? Burke Mountain Bike Park has got your fix. Spend a day floating above tabletops and pushing into beautifully sculpted berms on Jester and Knight Slayer as you rip to the bottom. No matter where you ride in the Kingdom you’re guaranteed to feel the flow and come back ready for more.
